Making one’s house friendly for people with a physical disability:
Before adapting one’s house consider the following.
What physical disability is the person experiencing?
For example the person cannot use their legs, or arms or whole body.
What equipment does the person use?
For example a wheel chair or walking stick.
What apparatus does the person need?
For example hand rails, a hoisting machine to help the person onto the bed.
What needs to be done in order to make the house comfortable, accessible and convenient for the person to live a happy independent life without experiencing frustration?
Make a list of all the areas that needs to be adapted.
